Our Commitment
At TrueFound, your privacy is not an afterthought — it's core to how we operate. We built this registry to reunite pets with their families while keeping your personal information protected. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Your Privacy During Lookups
When someone looks up your pet's microchip, we do not display your full contact information publicly. The finder sees only your pet's name, species, your first name, and your last initial. When a finder submits a report, we facilitate communication through privacy-preserving methods — your personal phone and email are never exposed without your consent.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these specific cases:
- With finders of your pet: limited profile information to facilitate reunification
- With service providers: payment processors, email and SMS providers, hosting and analytics partners, under strict confidentiality obligations
- With vets and shelters: when they perform a lookup on your pet's chip, to help reunite you
- For legal reasons: when required to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect rights, safety, or property
- With your consent: any other sharing is done with your explicit permission
Missing Pet Alerts
Alert subscribers receive notifications about missing pets within a chosen radius. Alerts include the pet's photo, name, species, last-seen location, and a way to contact the owner through our platform. You can unsubscribe from alerts at any time using the link in the notification or from your account settings.
Data Retention
We retain account and registration data for as long as your account is active and your microchip registration is valid. If you close your account, we may retain certain data as required for legal, tax, and fraud-prevention purposes. Inactive accounts may be archived or deleted after an extended period of inactivity.
Your Rights and Choices
- Access: view the information we have about you from your dashboard
- Correction: update your account and pet information at any time
- Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated data
- Portability: request an export of your data in a portable format
- Marketing opt-out: unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time
Depending on where you live, additional rights may apply (for example, under the CCPA, GDPR, or similar laws). To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, including encryption in transit, secure password storage, and access controls. No system is completely secure, but we take safeguards seriously and review them regularly.
Children's Privacy
TrueFound is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
